I’m glad Sennheiser continues to buck the trend every now and then, by making a high-quality open-back gaming headset to fill that niche market. They did so with their ‘PC’ and ‘GAME’ lineup, and are continuing the good work with their new gaming series in the form of the Sennheiser GSP 500.
The GSP 301 uses Sennheiser’s famed acoustic technology to enhance every gaming session with even greater clarity and realism. We have stepped up the bass to add further intensity to the gameplay so that you can truly experience the game to the fullest. The GSP 301 is equipped with an aviation-inspired split headband which reduces pressure for the best comfort and fit even during long gaming sessions. The superior fit is further assured by a clever ball-joint hinge that makes it easy to perfectly angle the speakers to suit your face shape. For the ultimate team performance, the GSP 301 is equipped with a broadcast quality noise-cancelling microphone that minimizes background noise, and a short boom arm that cuts out breathing sound for clearer in-game communication. To mute, simply lift the boom arm and you’re off the air!. Closed back headset with Memory foam ear pads providing best-in-class noise isolation and comfort.

Everyone is always looking for the best gaming headset out there that will be able to help them hear everything going on in-game or just something with good sound/mic quality. Each company will offer their own take to sell the headset, but Sennheiser keeps it plain and simple. Our GSP 302 review takes a look at Sennheiser’s gaming headset which features closed acoustics for better clarity and bass while you focus on your game. Take a look at why I enjoyed this gaming headset below in the full review.
GSP 302 with mic down On the left side of the GSP 302 is the earcup with the acoustic mic that has the ability to move up and down whenever you’d like to mute the headset so others can’t hear you. The earcups themselves are slanted slightly forward giving it a nice look and comfort to users ears.
Behind the mic is the cord that leads from the headset to the splitter, which I’ll explain later. Sennheisers logo is displayed just before the band starts. As for the band itself, it has some foam type material underneath that gives you some cushion to keep the top of your head from hurting after any amount of time of playing games. The right side of the headset has another Sennheiser logo and just beneath that is the volume adjuster. The cord is about 4ft long with a splitter at the end.
One is for using the mic only and the other is for the headset. If you’d like to use the headset for your Xbox, a 3.5mm combo adapter comes included in the box, so you’ll be able to hear people in your chat party and the game volume at the same time. Sound Quality The last gaming headset I reviewed was the and I truly loved the sound quality, but after hearing sound through these guys, I don’t think I could go back to the iClevers. Don’t get me wrong, I will still use them even after sending this headset back, but you can’t un-hear something of this good quality. As always, I start out by listening to some music to see how that sounds and everything I played sounded amazing.
The only issue I had was when I went from playing music on my Macbook versus my desktop. The sound was quieter on my desktop though I did nothing to the volume control on either computers. I tried it on my mobile phone too and it still sounded better than my desktop. Maybe it was just a hiccup, but don’t let my issue take away from how good the sound quality is. 3.5mm audio adapter connected When I used the headset for console gaming n the Xbox One I could hear everyone and everything clearly.
You guys know I’m a huge fan, so when I’m in a fireteam or a party chat, I could hear what people were saying without having to repeat themselves. As for in-game sound, I preferred to use the headset for hearing game sound than my soundbar connected to my TV. Mic Quality I’ve used the mic on PC and Xbox so far and people have stated they can hear me pretty well. When using this headset for my Xbox, compared to the normal headset I use, no one on the other end of the conversation can hear what’s going on in the background if I’m playing music or someone else is talking. It’s the same on PC too, which is definitely a welcome feature. One thing I figured I’d try was using the headset with my mobile device for a phone call as Sennheiser says the headset can be used for mobile gaming, but I thought outside the box as would someone else who’s curious. Little did I know, the headset works well with phone calls.
In this case, hough, the person on the other end can hear what’s going on in the background, but can’t make out what is being said. Price Other competitors to Sennheiser have their prices well over $100+ just for a headset that could sound just as good, but Sennheiser is giving you a price tag of $99.95USD.
You can’t beat that at all given the sound and microphone quality. The sound quality section says it all about how I feel about this headset, so you have my recommendation to purchase these before getting something else.
Wrap Up I very much so enjoyed using the Sennheiser GSP 302 gaming headsets and using something other than the normal Xbox headset. Even for PC, I liked these much more than the current iClever headphones I’m using. If you’re looking for an alternative to some of the more expensive competition for gaming headsets, definitely check out Sennheiser. We were sent a review unit of the Sennheiser GSP 302 Gaming Headset for the purposes of this review.
